Selfies and Coffees

In my Mother’s Day post last week, one of the points I made was that I needed to learn to be a bit more selfish as a mum. I know I put alot of time and effort into my family and that leads to neglecting myself. So on Mother’s Day this year (11 March – in the U.K.) I decided to be a little bit self-obsessed. How so? By taking part in the most self centred, ego boosting activity that is called the Selfie! But wait! There’s more!We visited The Tea Terrace at House of Fraser, Oxford Circus to try their… *drum roll*… Selfieccino! Yep, you read that right! A Selfieccino!! This process uses a high tech printer and edible food colouring to print your mugshot onto your preferred choice of frothy beverage such as their so called selfieccino (cappuccino) or hot chocolate.

I’m personally not a huge fan of selfies, and as it was Mother’s Day, I wanted to have a photo with my baby boy #JasperBean. This worked out perfect, as the cup was huge and fitted us both perfectly and although it wasn’t the best coffee I have had, it’s pretty obvious we weren’t actually there for the taste. đŸ™‚

The Selfiecinno from The Tea Terrace

The Tea Terrace located next to the childrenswear department has a lovely quasi-modern decor fused with old Victorian style. They have an extensive menu ranging from Full English Breakfasts to Burgers to Afternoon Teas and gluten free selections. The drinks and food are served in pretty English bone china. And the general atmosphere was relaxed with a slight resemblance to the Mad Hatter’s tea party in Alice in Wonderland.

Actually, the photo taken wasn’t a selfie or wefie, because S took it for us! I find being selfish really hard and life is much more healthy, positive and fun when it’s “we”.

Hope all the mummy’s (and daddy’s) in the world had a wondeful weekend whether they celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday or not.

Thanks to my boys, Happy Mother's Day at The Tea Terrace

Thanks for reading and until next time…

Love, MsMamaBean x

Oh my gosh! How impressive are those. I’m not sure I’d want to errrmmm drink my face, but it does look like a whole lot of fun! The tea terrace looks so pretty, was it quite child friendly? Thanks for joining us for the #dreamTeam xx

I would say it was as child friendly as any tea room really, it’s next to the children’s wear department so toilet access etc was fairly easy. We had a buggy with us and they gave us a low table on the side rather than one of those dining tables so there was more room for little one to walk around in our own area.
