I’ve never been one of those lucky people who won prizes, or recognition. So when I received a comment on my blog post Play is not just “Child’s Play” from Yan Ru, a fellow blogger from Yanrula informing me that she has nominated my blog for the Blogger Recognition Award. I seriously was shocked and couldn’t believe my eyes! I had to re-read it a couple times through just to make sure it was real.

My blogging story

I have only been blogging for 2.5 months and although it’s been a short time, I truly believe it has made me look at things a bit differently. Partly due to the fact that I am reading a lot more blogs and it has been an inspirational journey. I originally decided to start this blog to document the little joys in my life, but it has become obvious to me as a mummy that I have A LOT of joys and some pains to share too. More importantly I wanted to share my findings and knowledge so that we can be more informed, more tolerable and hopefully less judgemental. I can’t wait to document all the ordinary and extraordinary moments that pass in the blink of an eye, and I really hope that you would join me too.

My advice to new bloggers

1. Experiment

When you’re just starting out, its hard to figure out what appeals to readers. So don’t be afraid to experiment and change things up a bit. You can write a post abouts lists, experiences, hacks, story’s etc, don’t be limited in your offering. This way, you will have more angles to tackle the topics you blog about and be unique. However, don’t forget to measure the results to see which type of posts resonate with your audience. Remember to keep testing as your audiences mature and change.

2. Don’t give up!

I sometimes feel lost in the endless blog promotion and education. I put so much time and effort into it and I still find myself occasionally thinking, “Why do I bother?” And it’s readers and fellow bloggers like you, that remind me that I should persevere, inspire and be inspired. Thank you Yan Ru, you have truly made a new blogger like me feel loved and most importantly noticed in this enormous blogosphere that we have opened ourselves up to. This award has been a revitilising pill for me and now I’m going to pass it on to another 15 of you.

So to all the new bloggers out there, hats off to you! I know how hard it is to stay motivated and passionate about every aspect of blogging, even the boring admin bits. Please continue to write and learn about yourself and those putting themselves out there for others to criticise. I just want to tell you, that your writing is reaching someone out there and they thank you for sharing your heart and soul.
