Coraline Halloween Outfit That Requires Minimum Effort
Last week I shared with your #JasperBean’s Halloween outfit and today I wanted to share mine with you. This year halloween falls on a work day. In my eyes, as a mummy, a halloween outfit requires minimum effort or at least that’s what I am aiming for. So an outfit that could be thrown together with pieces I already had in the wardrobe without looking too quirky during office hours is essential.
One of my favourite fantasy horror animation is Coraline and I wanted to dress up as the heroine.
The Outfit
Jumper: You can get this orange one I’m wearing from H&M.
Black Skirt: I’ve had my black skirt for years, but you can find a similar one here.
Yellow Boots: You can’t see them in my pictures, but I wore my high top yellow Converse.
I also had a yellow jacket from Boden, but didn’t end up wearing it because it was just way too warm!
Coraline does have other outfit choices in the film such as blue jeans, a red skirt, blue jumper etc… so you can mix and match to suit your taste and wardrobe.
**Images below might not be suitable for sensitive little ones, although #JasperBean didn’t mind at all. :)**
Because it’s Halloween…
For the halloween twist, I added a half sewn button eye with some fake blood. I DIY-ed this with a button, paper clip, thread and double sided body tape. I shaped the paper clip into a needle and then thread one side through the button and stuck it down with lots of cellotape so that that it wouldn’t move or poke me straight in the eye if there was some accident…
Some fake blood…
For extra Coraline points, I also brought my mini Coraline doll – this is the first time she’s ever been out of her box!
Result
This is a super easy halloween outfit and the “needle” in the eye really did get a lot of attention and gave it that cringe factor. It didn’t cost me a fortune and with a little creativity, I won best outfit at work! #Result!
I hope you like it and thanks for reading! Until next time,

That looks fantastically creepy! Great job!
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it too! X
That looks so great! I’m not very imaginative when it comes to DIY fancy dress, but you have nailed this 🙂 #MMBC
😊 that’s when the internet and Pinterest comes in handy!! Thanks for visiting!
This is fantastic. What a great costume. I love it. #MMBC
I’m glad you like it 😊
This is great! I would have never thought to get that creative using things I already have!
This is such an easily great costume! Coraline was my sister’s favourite movie this time last year she would’ve loved this!
oooh! Please show your sister! It might just give her some last minute ideas? or maybe something for next year? x
Great imagination. You made it look so easy. One of my favorite movies.
Brilliant Halloween costume which is quite simple to make.
Oh my gosh the button eye – so creative!
Thank you! ☺️
Such a cute and quick costume idea!
I think the best Halloween costumes are the simple creative ones. I just got back from our company Halloween lunch, and the winner was my coworker who dressed up as a My Buddy doll. It was just a ridiculous wig and a pair of overalls, but everyone loved it. Great job.
I agree, creativity doesn’t have to be complex! Hope you had fun at your company Halloween lunch.
I don’t celebrate Halloween, but this looks like an easy costume to copy for those that do celebrate the holiday.
We don’t celebrate Halloween either, but it’s just an excuse to dress up. 😊 Halloween doesn’t seem to be very big here in the U.K. either.
What a great looking costume! I love how it doesn’t require too much work but you would never be able to tell with the finished product!
how scary! you look just like her! this is such a good costume 🙂
Thank you 😊
Wow, you really worked the end result! Very creative. I love DIY costumes!
Love the costume! Such a creative idea and it does seem really simple. Great post 🙂
I love this! Super creative and does have that creepy tone that can’t help but make you stand out. This movie terrified me as a child but I still love it!
The movie is creepy isn’t it, but I love it so much!
This is insanely simple but also insanely creative! Love the little touches!
Thank you! x
Very creative way to think about a costume. Much better than a generic store bought one
This is so creative! You did a great job with your costume!
Really awesome costume. I might have to do this next year. Its one of my favorite movies from Laika.
Definitely give it a go! I would love to see your version too!
Oh you look fab!!! And more then a little bit creepy. We’ve never watched the film because I thought it might be too scary for the kids. Well done for winning best costume, very deservedly. Thanks for linking up to the #bigpinklink this week.
The movie can be a little dark for kids, but definitely a must watch. Thanks for commenting and hosting x
Creepyyy!!! Too real my gosh!
