Gummy Bears for Adults! (Contains Alcohol)

Jump to recipe

Alcoholic gummy bears for adults! How awesome is that? Not only do you get to eat gummy bears, but you have your favourite tipple in it as well! My Homemade Fruit and Vegetable Gummy Bears were an instant hit with the family and after getting some feedback from my awesome readers, it seems they have enjoyed it very much as well! So today, I am going to share with you my experience of making not one but THREE alcoholic gummy bears! That’s red wine, white wine and rosé. Actually, I lie, I made four different kinds of gummies, one being japanese plum wine, but they were so yummy, I ate them all before I could take any photos! However, the recipe I’m sharing with you has the same amount of liquid regardless of what wine you’re using. The only end difference is the different colour the gummies are, which in actual fact the plum wine and white wine looked almost identical!

alcoholic gummy bears

Ok, enough rambling, heres the recipe!

I didn’t use expensive wines, you don’t need to! Any old wine will do! I chose ones that I knew were sweet, refreshing and fruity. So knock yourself out and find your perfect match!

white and rose gummies

Whoever said you can’t mix your wines together? 🙂Who said you can't mix your wines together?

I used:

Red: Campo Viejo Rioja Tempranillo for its rich, intense aroma of ripe fruits such as cherry and strawberry and a hint of oak and sweet spices. 13.5% alcohol
White: Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie for its delicate flavours of pear and citrus fruit. 11.5% alcohol
Rosé: Gallo Vineyards White Grenache Rosé. This grape is the force behind many of southern France’s most delicious reds – including Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It has lovely red berry flavours such as strawberry, raspberry and red cherries, very refreshing. 10% alcohol

You can use any type of alcohol that you like, the only difference might be that some alcohols will have a thicker consistency or sweeter taste, therefore you may want to alter the amount of sugar used.

Tips:

  1. Do not heat up the mixture until the gelatine is absorbed and whisked with the juice, as this may cook your gelatine too quickly and you’ll end up with lumps. If you do, then you’ll have to wait for your mixture to cool down a bit for the lumps to separate and float to the top (about 10 minutes). Once this happens, you can scrape this from the top.
  2. You can use gelatine leaves, but powder is easier to measure accurately.
  3. For vegetarians, you can use Vege-Gel from Dr.Oetker or agar-agar powder.

Adorable gummy bears for adults

Don’t they look so adorable? And so yummy too! S said that he can actually smell the alcohol content from the gummies, admittedly the Rioja was much stronger in taste but I still think they weren’t as strong as drinking the wine straight from the glass/bottle (obviously the sugar helped! As Mary Poppin sang “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down”, in this case, the wine). If you tried making my Homemade Fruit and Vegetable Gummy Bears, be sure to keep those and these separate, you wouldn’t want little hands reaching for the wrong container!

spilled your wine? no worries, you can pick them right up!
But the best thing of all? You won’t stain your clothes/carpet with a little spillage! Heck you don’t even need a mop or tissue! I am guilty of picking the gummy off the floor and popping it straight into my mouth! 😛

spilled my red wine gummies onto my laptop!
I hope you like these gummy bears for adults as much as we did!

Until next time…

Love, MsMamaBean

This is a dangerous idea! I could just eat the whole lot!

admittedly I did eat alot of them, but one batch makes like 200 gummy bears! So you would be really full of you managed to eat it all… and to be honest, even if you did, that’s just 1 big glass of wine 😜
